Five things to check before your MOT

Lights
Walk round and check every bulb - headlights, indicators, brake lights, number plate light. Replacing a bulb is £10. An MOT fail re-test is more.

Tyres
Tread depth must be at least 1.6mm across the central 75% of the tyre. Check for cuts, bulges and uneven wear.

Wipers & washers
Top up the washer fluid and make sure your wipers clear the screen properly. Smeary wipers = an instant advisory.

Warning lights
A glowing engine, ABS or airbag light is an automatic fail. Pop in beforehand and we'll pull the codes for you.

Number plate
Must be clean, legible and the correct font. Sounds obvious - it's the most common silly fail we see.
MOT questions, answered
How long does an MOT take? +
A standard Class 4 MOT takes around 45-60 minutes. We offer a "while you wait" service with free Wi-Fi - or use our free pick up & drop off and we'll bring it back to you.
What documents do I need? +
You don't need any documents - we look up everything we need from your number plate. Bring your keys and a sense of humour. If you have a previous MOT certificate that's helpful but not required.
Can you do an MOT same day? +
Yes - in most cases we can fit you in the same day. Sunday slots fill up quickly, so call ahead on 0161 795 8739 or book online.
What happens if my car fails? +
If we find issues, we'll explain them in plain English and give you an honest quote for the repair. No pressure. If you choose to have the work done with us and it's a partial re-test within 10 working days, the re-test is free.
Do you do MOT history checks? +
Yes - we can pull your full MOT history straight from the DVSA, which is useful before buying a used car.
My MOT is due - can I drive my car to your garage? +
Yes - you can legally drive to a pre-booked MOT appointment even if your current MOT has expired. Or skip the worry and let us collect it for free.
